Smilin' Coyote

Peter Hurd Prints

Peter Hurd was born in Roswell, NM in 1904. He traveled to Chadds Ford, PA in 1922 to study art under N.C. Wyeth, the renowned illustrator and the father of Andrew Wyeth. He married N.C.'s daughter, Henriette, in 1929. They returned to New Mexico and lived on a ranch in San Patricio where Peter painted his well-known southwest landscapes.

Smilin' Coyote has been proud to have some unlimited, unsigned prints of Peter's work. However, my supplier has decided to raise the wholesale prices above what I am charging for retail so I have decided that I can no longer carry these prints. Sadly when the prints I had in stock were sold, I have taken them off of this page. Only this one remains.

Shower on the Prairie
Peter Hurd is known for his realistic painting of water in all its forms. This talent is exemplified here with streaks of rain falling from the dark clouds. But clear skies are just ahead!
